CERN Science Gateway, a place to explore CERN and science through authentic, innovative and inspirational experiences was inaugurated in October 2023. Since then, it has seen thousands of visitors, with almost 30K+ visitors every month.

“Science Gateway will be a place where scientists and the public can interact daily. For me, personally, Science Gateway is a dream that has become a reality and I am deeply grateful to all the people who have contributed, starting with our generous donors.” -  Fabiola Gianotti, CERN Director-General

This February of 2025, the CERN Science Gateway welcomed its 500 000th visitor!

Damian (left) excitedly offered Saira (right) with a two-day trip to Geneva, Switzerland, including a stop at the iconic Science Gateway. As an Architecture student and a Mathematics student, they both eagerly embraced the chance to discover CERN.

To thank them for their visit, they enjoyed a meal at the Big Bang Café and received a special book edited by the Fondazione Renzo Piano, detailing the creation of CERN’s science and outreach centre. It was a trip that sparked inspiration and unforgettable memories.

The Science Gateway is CERN’s education and outreach center, where visitors take a unique journey building on the physical proximity to CERN, its accelerators, detectors, facilities and people.

Through immersive multimedia exhibits, hands-on lab workshops, science shows, events that blend science and culture, innovation-prototyping workshops and tours of authentic CERN places – all guided by CERN people – visitors of all ages and backgrounds can engage in the discoveries, the science and the technologies of CERN.
