The American Astronomical Society (AAS) and CERN, together with others, have conceived a joint project to promote scientific software into an identifiable, citable, and preservable object. The project is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and CERN will use this opportunity to further test, develop and improve Zenodo.

Zenodo is a research output publication and archival service built and developed by scientists from the CERN Information Technology department, to ensure that everyone can join in Open Science. Based on the open source Invenio digital library framework, Zenodo was created through the OpenAIRE project and is hosted at CERN.

Zenodo offers the data handling know-how of CERN as a simple web service for data sets easily uploaded and downloaded via the web, but this is just a fraction of Science’s overall need for data services. In order to meet the constant demand for expanding Zenodo’s features and storage capabilities, we accept donations through CERN & Society.
