With the aim of nurturing future generations of scientists and engineers, the 2017 CERN Spanish Teacher Programme gave 45 high-school teachers the opportunity to come to CERN during the last week of June to attend an intensive 5-day training including lectures and workshops on how teachers can play a crucial role in engaging more students with scientific studies and careers.

One of the participants' most exciting experiences was to build their own cloud chamber at S’Cool LAB to detect particles and observe the tracks they leave behind and made visible by the cloud chamber. This was just one of the experiments the Spanish teachers will now be able to reproduce in their classrooms next year with the appropriate equipment.

The Spanish Teacher Programme is a CERN & Society project and the 2017 edition was partly funded by the Aquae Foundation. To learn more about it and how you can get involved, visit the dedicated page.
