This year, the Italian Teacher Programme will be supported in part by the Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera, a non-profit Italian organisation established in 2001 to honour the memory of entrepreneur Silvio Tronchetti Provera and to promote research in the fields of economics, science, technology, management and other fields applied to industrial development.

The Foundation has pledged its support also for the Italian Teacher Programme in 2018. The overall grant will fully support more than 30 high-school science teachers from Italy, who will come to CERN for an intensive 1-week training on physics, including lectures by CERN scientists and hands-on activities suitable for straightforward replication in the classroom with appropriate basic equipment.

The Italian Teacher Programme was first launched in 2009 as part of CERN’s National Teacher Programmes, a series of international courses offered by CERN at its premises in Geneva, Switzerland. The Programme is provided by CERN, with the support of the CERN & Society Foundation, in the context of CERN’s overall education efforts to promote the teaching of modern physics and increase knowledge exchange between teachers and scientists.

The Italian Teacher Programme is a CERN & Society project. To learn more about CERN & Society activities and how you can be involved, visit the dedicated page.
