logoFor the fifth time in the Competition's history, Beamline for Schools (BL4S) is funded in part by the Fund Ernest Solvay, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. The Fund was one of the first supporters of the CERN & Society Foundation and their ongoing encouragement has helped shape the world's future scientists and engineers.

The primary aim of the Fund Ernest Solvay is to promote interest in scientific and technological training and development, both in Belgium and abroad. The Fund achieves this by supporting initiatives in both education and entrepreneurship in science and technology, such as in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and earth sciences.

In the six years of BL4S, 1114 teams with more than 10,000 high-school students have taken part in the Competition, coming from 84 different countries worldwide. What’s more, three of the winning teams have already published a peer-reviewed article in the International Journal of the Institute of Physics (IOP).

To find out more about the competition, CERN's beamline and experimental facilities, and to read about winning teams and experiments from previous years, please go to the BL4S website
