For the second consecutive year, the Greek Teacher Programme, which will take place in August 2017, will be supported in part by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, a non-profit Greek organisation established in 2005 to continue the benevolent legacy of John S. Latsis in the areas of education, science, culture, health, social welfare, and the environment.

This grant will allow 60 high school science teachers to participate in CERN's physics training in August 2017. The training lasts 4 days and consists of a series of lectures and workshops given by CERN scientists in order to help teachers keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field so that they can provide high-level education to their students.

The Greek Teacher Programme was first launched in 2008 as part of CERN’s National Teacher Programmes, a series of international courses offered on-site at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, in the context of CERN’s overall education efforts to promote the teaching of modern physics and increase knowledge exchange between teachers and scientists. So far, CERN has trained more than 10,00 high school teachers from more than 70 countries in modern physics.
