For the third year running, the CERN & Society Foundation is happy to announce that Amgen Switzerland is supporting the CERN Beamline for Schools Competition (BL4S).

Amgen is one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. Each year, Amgen commits significant financial support and product donations to help make a difference in people's lives. Like the previous two years, Amgen has shown its support for STEM education in students through the CERN Beamline for Schools Competition 2020 as well.

The CERN Beamline for Schools competition is a high school competition for students from around the globe. Every year, the competition ignites scientific curiosity in hundreds of students. The students work in teams to develop and submit a scientific proposal for an experiment they could run at CERN, using specialised equipment and infrastructure.

Every year, two winning teams are invited to CERN to conduct the experiments they proposed on actual beamlines at CERN. This year, due to the COVID-19 situation, one of the winning teams has been invited to DESY, Germany and the other one to CERN.

To find out more about the competition, the beamline and experimental facilities, and read about winning teams from previous years on the BL4S website.
